Track Name: The Bliss Returns
devoid of anything nearing regret,
my senses blunted and out of reach.
sprawled over white cotton,
caresses softly remind me
of the world surrounding.
whispers of the cityside,
sing to the morning sun,
as he inches across cotton folds.
beauty blinding as I catch the sight.
smiling playfully,
the warmth arousing,
the smile arrives,
the cotton moves,
the bliss returns.
Track Name: Helen
Helen, won't you be a dear, and join me for a dance,
Then we'll catch the morning train to take us off to France.
Oh, don't look me in the face with such a surly frown,
The night is still young, the air is fresh, it's time to paint the town!
But what? You don't take any wine?

Helen, come and sit with me, I'll point out all the stars.
It's lovely here in the moonlight away from all the bars.
Oh, you know the stars quite well and can point them all out by name?
Then teach me those I do not know so we can both know the same!
But what? You just haven't the time?

Don't make a sound.
You left before the dawn when no-one else was around,
When I came down this morning you were nowhere to be found,
Don't make a sound.

Helen. would you be so kind as to get in touch with me,
Perhaps I could visit you, by land or air or...
But maybe you don't think that's really such a good plan,
And would much rather prefer to never see me again?
Oh well, I guess that's just fine.

Don't make a sound.
You left before the dawn when no-one else was around,
When I came down this morning you were nowhere to be found,
Don't make a sound.
Track Name: I Wish You Were Here
I wish you were here, so I don't sing to myself,
I wish you were here, you know I hate sleeping alone,
I wish you were here, the dog thinks I'm going nuts,
I with you were here, that film's on that you love.

You look so good, with a towel around your waist,
You look so good, though you're only half awake,
You look so good, wearing all my clothes,
You look so good, and you don't even know.

I wish you were here, my tea's starting to get cold,
I wish you were here, 'cause I don't cook just for one,
I wish you were here, the night's drawing in too fast,
I wish you were here, 'cause I miss you hun.

You look so good, that people turn their heads,
You look so good, in that eyeliner that you love,
You look so good, checking your face for spots,
You look so good, though you've not shaved in a week.

But I know, it'll be ok,
'Cause we need it to be.

I wish you were here, so you'd hear this song I've sung,
I wish you were here, so I won't wake alone,
I wish you were here, I've taken that dog for so many walks,
I wish you were here, that film... well, it's just about done.
Track Name: Codail Sámh
Codail sámh, grá mo chroí,
Lig do scíth, grá mo chroí,
Fan anseo tamaillín,
Codail sámh..

Sleep by my shoulder for a while,
Rest your head on my chest,
and I will hold you tight
Stay here with me tonight.

I'll do my best not to hurt you,
If you promise to do the same,
Your eyelashes distract me,
Keep me watching your face, while you

Sleep by my shoulder for a while,
Rest your head on my chest,
and I will hold you tight
Stay here with me tonight.

You like music to go to sleep to,
It just keeps me awake,
But I'm content to lie here holding you,
Keep watching your face

Codail sámh, grá mo chroí,
Lig do scíth, grá mo chroí,
Fan anseo tamaillín,
Codail sámh..

Sleep by my shoulder for a while,
Rest your head on my chest,
and I will hold you tight
Stay here with me tonight.
Track Name: Is This What They Call Romance?
It's you and me, and the street cleaners,
And the seagulls scuffling for scraps,
Even Supermacs is closed, and the sun's long up,
But we don't notice, and I say,

I really like your boyfriend, and I don't want to break you up, but I really wanna be kissing you.
He's quite a perfect boyfriend, who calls you every day, just to make sure everything's ok,
He's handsome and kind, with an astute mind,
He's polite and he's sweet,
He's like a teddy bear with gell in his hair, and he always says hello when we meet.
But you have the greenest eyes, and the sweetest smile,
You have the greenest eyes, and the sweetest smile,
Is this what they call romance?

It's you and me, and the street cleaners,
And the jerky puppet head of people half asleep,
They're waiting on the first bus home, and staring at the shop fronts, noses pressed against the glass.

I really like your girlfriend, I know you don't swing my way, but I really wanna be kissing you,
She's quite the perfect girlfriend, who calls you every day, just to make sure everything's ok,
She's beautiful and kind with an astute mind,
She's polite and she's sweet,
She's like a supermodel with long blonde hair, and she always says hello when we meet,
But you have the greenest eyes, and the sweetest smile,
You have the greenest eyes, and the sweetest smile,
Is this what they call romance?

You'll find me in the dark, in shadows I steal away,
When the blackness surrounds you, come and stay.
I walk around with my glasses off to romanticise the world,
When you've nothing left to say - hide a while with me.

It's you, and me,
Just you, and me.
You, me, and the street cleaners - is this what they call romance?
You, me, and the street cleaners - is this what they call romance?
Oh, is this what they call romance?
Track Name: Phoenix
Red king, knocked down,
Overthrown, left to drown.

Holding on to the water's edge,
Clinging to that rocky ground,
Though deep water is dragging you down,
Rise.

Rise up from the water,
It won't douse your fire,
Burn bright and let your flames inspire.

Like a phoenix from the water,
Guardian angel to guide,
A phoenix from the water,
Steaming, reborn, you will rise.

Retrace your steps, I'll walk with you,
Have a wake for your rebirth.

Walking down those dark streets,
Remembering the night,
Though memory is shaky and dragging you down,
Rise.

Rise up from the water,
It won't douse your fire,
Burn bright and let your flames inspire.

Like a phoenix from the water,
Guardian angel to guide,
A phoenix from the water,
Soaking, reborn, you will rise.

So keep your strong heart beating,
Keep your strong heart beating.
Keep your strong heart beating.
Keep your strong heart beating.

A phoenix from the water,
A phoenix from the water,
Steaming, reborn, you will rise.
Track Name: Restless
You've flown away from every place that ever felt like home to you,
I dunno why you feel so restless - in need of something new,

But I don't wanna be the one,
Who's always waiting 'round for you to call.
And I can't help but fight the feeling,
That maybe I'm being played for a fool.

Now it seems you've gone and found yourself somebody new,
You say, "no, he's not better, he's just closer than you."

It's not my fault that you can't settle,
It's not my fault you flew away,
You say twenty-two's too young,
You wanna see the world.

Well there's more to life than drunken encounters and partying all night 'til dawn.
Sometimes the best things in life are hidden - or something small.

But instead we fight each other,
And cry ourselves to sleep - maybe that's just me.
But I know you have feelings,
You can't resolve just yet.

Should we just end it, pull the noose, cut all ties?
Neither of us wants that, we wanna be in touch at sixty-five.

So, maybe twenty-two's too young to settle into routine,
But who says we'd need to be routine?
By the time you say that you'd be ready,
Half my youth'll have passed.
You'll have missed the best of me.
Track Name: Rerun
You broke my heart into tiny pieces,
I see them every morning still on my bedroom floor.
You left me here surrounded by those pieces,
That were shattered in your wake as you walked out the door.

There's ghosts haunting my dreams,
There's ghosts haunting my dreams,
There's ghosts haunting my dreams.

There's memories in my inbox and on my memory card,
I find myself in a mise-en-scène from five or ten years ago.
I like this circular focus, looping over the past,
Timelines are blurred, events replayed.

More real in memory than life,
More real in memory,
More real in memory than life.

Am I getting sentimental, nostalgic in my young age?
Do we mourn the past so readily, not cherishing the present day?

It's a rerun, it's a rerun, it's a rerun.
It's a ghost haunting my dreams.
Track Name: Take Me Away
No I don't belong here,
This isn't my place,
I feel really ugly,
I feel like I'm a waste.

Somebody come and hold me,
Come take my hand,
This place is quite scary,
Take me to another land.

Take me away, just like Dorothy,
Fly me through the air to a land overseas,
Take me away, I'm not worthy,
Put me in a hole and just forget all about me.
Don't pass me by - please take notice,
I love you so much, I love you so much.

Allelujah....

I'll peel off all my skin,
And look in deeper,
There must be something there,
There must be something creepier,

Take me away, just like Dorothy,
Fly me through the air to a land overseas,
Take me away, I'm not worthy,
Put me in a hole and just forget all about me.
Don't pass me by - please take notice,
I love you so much, I love you so much.

Allelujah..
All day long people looking at me,
Staring at the monster lurking in me,
So I check behind my eyes, searching me,
I check into the mirror..

Take me away, just like Dorothy,
Fly me through the air to a land overseas,
Take me away, I'm not worthy,
Put me in a hole and just forget all about me.
Don't pass me by - please take notice,
I love you so much, I love you so much.

Allelujah.
Track Name: Sanatorium
It's the end of summer,
my nose pressed against the glass,
Butterflies in my flowerbox,
And a bumblebee appears.

I watch the shadows moving,
Like a sundial across the lawn,
The longest shadow touches my door,
As the flowers start to dance.

They spring up in the air and smile at me,
I have no need for supper then,
I watch this aerial ballet instead.

They are so beautiful in the fading light,
And they welcome the stars as the sky darkens,
The moon is their spotlight,
It's a magical night.
Track Name: Galway Rain
Umbrellas are at full attack,
And the rain falls on South Bank,
But it doesn't feel the same,
No it doesn't feel the same as I remember Galway Rain.

London's become my friend for walks at 4am,
But it doesn't compare to the line out to Renmore,
Singing "Stand By Me" in harmony,
Preaching the gospel of Kali.

I've become so used to London,
I know my way around,
Stuck in the back of my wallet,
Is an old map of the underground.

Umbrellas are at full attack,
And the rain falls on South Bank.

I sometimes go for days,
Without talking to someone,
Except the checkout girl at ASDA,
Or someone on the phone.

I hate the crowds of London,
All rushing off somewhere,
Instead of rambling around Galway,
Eventually you'll get there.

Umbrellas are at full attack.

In Galway you wait in doorways for the worst of the downpour to pass,
Or walk through the lighter rain, spotting tourists in plastic macs,
You can sit outside Tigh Neachtain, and watch the city pass you by.

You're still the one,
I gotta get out of this city.
I wanted you to call.
You'll always be waiting.
My home town, my city.

Umbrellas are at full attack,
And the rain falls on South Bank,
But it doesn't feel the same,
No it doesn't feel the same as I remember Galway Rain.
Track Name: Wet Feet
My cons have worn through and I'm looking for the prose, to help me get out from under these woes so heavy, I see the words that could help me.

Resole my hopes, re-shod my desires, that I lost somewhere after all those crossed wires I'd had with you, months ago, that set me on the road.

Driving in circles around this small town and missing the exits, like a tourist in a rental, sat on the wrong side, caught out by the unfamiliar road signs.

All pointing in directions that don't correlate to the numbers on the map of the life that I'd sketched out on a napkin, with you one day while sat in a café.

Having coffee with you and we laughed at the plans that we made, which would never come true, which I guess we both knew back then.

So I walk through this town with my Cons soaking through, and my feet feeling heavy when I'm thinking on you, but perhaps it's just water soaking my socks.

And I look at the Pros rushing past on the street in suits on lunchbreaks in cafés where we once sat down, but I keep walking.

And stop in shop, try on a new pair of shoes,
To keep out the rain, and the water, and you.
